Hill & Black Lake is a former raised farm irrigation reservoir which was drained re-contoured and landscaped when it was converted into a fishery in 1994. Unlike some lakes that have been converted from farm reservoirs that can some times look sparce and featureless the Fennes has made great strides in landscaping this water and providing features.
These features include the soil from a former bank which used to divide the water into two has been used to create the three now well established islands.
The depths range from 8ft to 4ft with numerous sub surface features that consist of clear gravel patches, silt gulleys and large weed beds.
Again this lake holds the same species of fish as the other two lakes on the Fennes complex.
Hill and Black is ideal for species hunters with both Mirror and Common Carp being caught at 31lb+. This lake also provides the opportunity to use Drop Shot or Light Lure tactics to tempt the many large Perch up to 4.9lb that reside close to the numerous reed beds that fringe areas of the lake.
Accessability to the 25+ peg lake is via a medium gradient so may not be suitable to everyone and an all weather car park is situated at the base of the lake
